Friday Fictioneers – Write a 100-word story based on the Photo Prompt image above by © Dale Rogerson
A Day Off
Jo pumped her fists in the air as she contemplated how she would fill her day off. She had just worked 10 days in a row, filling in for the Clinical Manager at Highfield Aged Care. Being short-staffed due to annual leave and illness, the remaining staff were filling the void.
Jo had gone beyond the call of duty, and she grinned as she thought of the book she wanted to finish that was waiting for her on the couch where she left it 10 days ago. Hopefully, her eyes would stay open to finish the gritty, juicy last chapter!
Thanks for reading
No pleasure like a book

Lucky lady, I wish I could fall asleep like that.

Ahh. Rest at last. Nothing beats sleep for rest except a book. Reading sometimes lasts late in the night. I love to read.

Sometimes the only thing that we wang is to escape into another world for a while, and out of our own. Ten days straight at an Aged Care job would definitely take its toll.

Love that feeling of getting to the end of a book – I can manage to stay awake when I’m almost there, but if I’m only halfway through, I’ll fall asleep straightaway!! 🙂

A much-deserved break, I say. She can always finish the chapter when she wakes up 🙂

A humble nod to the caretakers that have gone above and beyond to get us through these years of dark times. I hope the ending to the story is a juicy as she hoped it would be.
