This patchwork is larger than life, powerful, and a bit late!
Gallipoli

I’ve been back a week from our trip to NZ to catch up with family and friends. We were away for two weeks and that time flew by, but we packed in loads of memories. While in Wellington for 3 days during the first stage of our trip, I fulfilled a dream.

I had been to Te Papa back in 2011, but it was a rushed visit with only 2 hours to see a few highlights.
Despite being brief, it was fabulous. My time spent looking at 4 selected ‘hotspots when you’re in a hurry,’ filled me with a desire to see more when the time was on my side.
Well, it has been a long wait. Life and Covid had meant I didn’t get back as soon as I’d meant to, but, I got to see the Gallipoli Exhibition on June 20th. It was mind-blowing!

The attention to detail was phenomenal. The tiny hairs on their forearms, or a bead of sweat trickling from under a hat…

This exhibition needs time to be spent taking in every detail.

The last display really got me. His face was so haunting.

I’m so glad I got to experience the Gallipoli exhibition. Weta Workshop has done a magnificent job. Ka Pai, Te Papa!
