Friday Fictioneers – Write a 100-word story based on the Photo Prompt image above by © Sandra Crooks
Family Honour
The story about Granny Bates’ pink house on the beach near the cliff had been told and retold within the family for decades, but there was some doubt whether the detail was accurate or stretched in the retelling.
But there was something sinister about Great Uncle Raff on top of the cliff. That detail was hazy like the sea on a stormy day.
Kate wanted answers. She would dig deep even if old wounds wept, to honour and clear the family name. She hoped the truth wouldn’t be too shocking to tell.
Thanks for reading
Wow, this reads like the blurb of a fantastic mystery book.

Thank you Mason, I was hoping it read okay I had the bones of it but wasn’t sure if that last sentence was enough.

I think it was pretty good. Got me wanting to know what the story and mystery was.

That’s good, I think there is more to tell of Granny Bates and her clan.

I think you could certainly tell more of her story for sure.

Thank you Neil, yes, that could be so. I think I’ll try and enlarge on the story and see where it goes.

Dear Fleur,
I agree with Mason. It does read like the blurb for a mystery novel. I’m curious. Well done.

Thank you Rochelle, I really wasn’t sure it was complete, to be honest. I’m glad it reads okay.

some secrets are better left buried as when brought out into the open they could do more harm than good. like they say, curiosity killed the cat. 🙂

Thanks Plaridel, yes…let sleeping dogs lie…and don’t poke the bear…leaving well alone is sometimes best. 🙂

The problem with such truths is that they are never discovered. Well done.
