On the Run

Friday Fictioneers – Write a 100-word story based on the Photo Prompt image above by  © Dale Rogerson

On the Run

Perry had the perfect hideaway to keep the cops at bay. A loft in an abandoned house was ideal. He clutched the envelope containing the evidence, another hand in his back pocket.  His gun was ready.

Looking out the window into the bleak night, the lake looked forbidding.

His stomach rumbled. Maybe there was food in the kitchen.

Making his way down the stairs, he froze. A car pulled up.  Excitable young voices.

“No way…” he groaned.

Panicking, he ran back up, dropping the envelope.

“It’s so cool your dad let us stay the weekend!”

“I know, race you up to the loft!”

Wow, it was a challenge fitting everything into this story with just 100 words. I didn’t quite succeed, there are 103. I tried so hard but gave in for the good of the story!

Thanks for reading

  1. Dear Fleur,

Uh oh. Not such a great hiding place after all. You left me hanging on this one. Good job.

Three words over? If you hadn’t mentioned I’d never have noticed. It’s when people go 25 or more over that I take notice. 😉

  2. Uh oh. Hopefully there is something he can hide behind! I’m sure he doesn’t want to add murder to his crimes. As for the dropped evidence… way to leave us hanging, Fleur! Nicely done.
