A Surprise in Store

Friday Fictioneersย โ€“ Write a 100-word story based on the Photo Prompt image above byย  ยฉ Fleur Lind

A Surprise in Store

The dusty kitchen was a buzz as Nick and Bek frantically tried to revive Perry.

โ€œCome on, man!  wake up!โ€

โ€œWhat is he doing here?โ€

โ€œNo idea.โ€

โ€œUh, whaaaโ€ฆโ€ Perry stirred.

โ€œPerry?โ€

โ€œNickโ€ฆ?โ€

โ€œHey, bud. What are you doing here?โ€ his neighbour asked.

โ€œHiding.โ€

โ€œFrom who?โ€

โ€œLong story.โ€

โ€œI bet. What happened?โ€

Perry explained his ordeal.

โ€œTheyโ€™re after me. The evidence and gun were in the suitcase.โ€

โ€œTheyโ€™re not, theyโ€™re in custody. It was on the news.โ€

โ€œGo to the police. Weโ€™ll drive you. Everything will be okay.โ€

โ€œDad will help, itโ€™s good having a lawyer in the family eh.โ€ Nick winked.

Thanks for reading

That’s it…the final chapter. 100 words are definitely limiting and there is a lot left to the reader’s imagination with this story, but at last, an outcome. In my mind, Perry was never a bad guy, just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
