A Surprise in Store
The dusty kitchen was a buzz as Nick and Bek frantically tried to revive Perry.
“Come on, man! wake up!”
“What is he doing here?”
“No idea.”
“Uh, whaaa…” Perry stirred.
“Perry?”
“Nick…?”
“Hey, bud. What are you doing here?” his neighbour asked.
“Hiding.”
“From who?”
“Long story.”
“I bet. What happened?”
Perry explained his ordeal.
“They’re after me. The evidence and gun were in the suitcase.”
“They’re not, they’re in custody. It was on the news.”
“Go to the police. We’ll drive you. Everything will be okay.”
“Dad will help, it’s good having a lawyer in the family eh.” Nick winked.

That’s it…the final chapter. 100 words are definitely limiting and there is a lot left to the reader’s imagination with this story, but at last, an outcome. In my mind, Perry was never a bad guy, just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I had to catch up, Martha, but I agree with you. Perry seems like a victim of circumstance and the scary thing is will he be able to convince the law?!

Yes he is. I’d like to bring his personality out more in future stories too.
