Blissfully Bubbly
Iβm new on the job, I replaced a retired 18-year-old Samson. Her capacity and willingness never faltered to meet the familyβs demands. But her belt was frayed and brittle. She had done her last spin.
Iβm a modern Front Loader; state-of-the-art, as a matter of fact. Iβm computerised, automatic, systematic, and hydromatic. Itβs a wonder they donβt call me Greased Lightning. I do ECO too, so I can save the planet. With so many wash cycles, I can meet every need – within reason; I donβt fold sheets.
So sit back and let me take your load off, bubbles and all.
Thanks for reading
This story is a 100-word version of Bubbly Bliss, printed almost to the day in our local paper…Wednesday, January 24, 2018.
In case systematic and hydromatic seem a bit random in the story… I thought it would be fun to put the washing machine in the same zone as the car in Grease…hence Greased Lightning.
I read 32 stories for the pink washing machine so far and this is first from the view of the hydromatic machine itself. Love it, well done.

What do smart front loaders dream of in the down time?

Dear Fleur,
With what some of those machines cost, they should fold sheets and serve up coffee as well. π Different POV. Nicely done.

I agree π―! In my extended version of the story it does mention hiw it doesn’t make coffee but anything is possible with advancing technology lol
I enjoy putting a voice to things and animals. Thank you for your comments π

I concur with others regarding your inspiration to speak from the POV of the proud machine. Very clever and well done.

Thank you Bill. Tgese narratives started 7 yrs ago when I read an article in our local paper about an abandoned shopping trolley. An idea popped up about how the trolley would feel. And the rest is history!

A machine that could do the folding too would be revered like a god!

Oh I agree π―!!
I’ve just mastered how to fold fitted sheets lol it was a ‘roll it up and stuff it in the cupboard’ job before that.

Awww thank you! I know, I’d love one too! My front loader isn’t as cheerful as this one lol
I wondered if the hydromatic was a bit confusing in the story so I thought I’d let Mr T explain it ππ€πΆπ΅π

Yes, technology is fun as machines take over. In the past, I still enjoyed the twin tube, although never again.

I just got one of those. It was recalled, but it could be fixed by downloading an update. I can control it with my phone, which seems pointless since I have to go in there to load it. There are literally more settings than I know what to do with. Which one’s wash?

Ohh I’m hearing you. All we want is a simple uncluttered life without so many choices eh. Why do they have to make simple stuff so complicated?!
