On the Job

“Is your mother about?  Is the coast clear?” Jim asked with a glint in his eye.

“What are you up to, dad?” Dan was suspicious.

“Just got a hunch. I’m on a mission, lad.”

“Have you taken your lunchtime meds?”

“Yep, they tasted awful. Jack down the road said something was up at that old derelict place on the corner.  Someone screamed earlier this morning.”

“Really? Best leave well alone, it’s unsafe.”

“Jack and I are going to check it out.”

“ You’ve retired from PI work. You should be resting after your op.”

“Rest? I’m on the job!”

“Dad!”
