Friday Fictioneers – Write a 100-word story based on the Photo Prompt image above by © Rowena Curtin
Table for Two
With a spring in her step, Mia breezed into the supermarket. It was her turn to host the writer’s group meeting, with a potluck lunch to follow.
She scanned her shopping and to-do list. She was doing alfresco on the patio. All was sorted, but the small table and two chairs needed a wipe.
At self-checkout, her bag of parsnips wouldn’t scan. She hailed staff to help.
“Who prints a barcode on a crease?”
“I’d say probably a man!”
“Coming tomorrow?”
“Sure am!”
“Great! I’ll reserve the table for two for your palm reading!”
“Hopefully I don’t see troubled waters with Claudia’s cruise!”
Thanks for reading. This tale came to me while at the supermarket, and I was buying parsnips for a stew, and they wouldn’t scan for me, the lovely assistant did say, laughing, ‘probably a man’, and I do belong to a writer’s group. But that’s all! Everything else in this yarn is fictional!

Thanks so much, Neil 🙂
I was wanting a last line or two with a twist. I was blank so I went off and did something else. Then later on…it randomly popped up. I might have to enlarge on that theme sometime!

Dear Fleur,
I love it when an incident such as that inspires a story. Nicely done.
