Taking Flight
Lena was filled with nervous excitement. Here she was, in the departure lounge for her first flight to London. The other travellers looked quite calm on their phones while they waited for the boarding call.
This was all new to Lena. She followed her mother’s advice and discretely put her pink travel socks on. She would get up during the flight and stretch, The socks would help with circulation on the long flight.
When boarding the Airbus, Lena marvelled at the huge cabin, it was like a hotel. How on earth was this plane going to get off the ground?
Thanks for reading

Better that Lena doesn’t know what keeps the plane up

Exactly. My first time on an Airbus 4 yrs ago, I couldn’t believe how quiet and smooth the take-off was. It was like aeronautical poetry. Nothing like a regular Boeing’s roar.

It truly is amazing, right? I loved the detail of the travel socks–it’s important to consider the small things 🙂

I would have put in pink and black stripey socks…but I would have run over 100 words! Thanks do much, Linda 🙂

Lena’s nervous excitement was palpable in this one. I’ve never been on a plane, but I can tell this is how it feels, well done.

Thanks so much, Mason. Airbus is definitely the way to go. The other smaller jets are so squishy by comparison.

When flying long distance, comfort always has to be first, hey?

She is best not thinking to much about it. Flying is abnormal. 😀

It’s is eh! I don’t think too much, just find a good movie or read a good book and wait for the food and drinks to arrive 😀

Lucky if there is food and drink with all the cost cutting!

Dear Fleur,
It is amazing that those huge planes can get off the ground isn’t it? Lovely little story.

I remember my first flight when I was 5 years old. It was a DC3. Such a lovely plane. Air travel has come a long way!

She really is well prepared. Lovely story. And maybe she’ll learn to build some paperplanes.

Maybe she will. I think she gives long flights plenty of practical thought. Thanks so much 🙂

My husband’s sisters are terrified of flying as is my sister. I figure that once I’m in the air it’s up to the pilot and crew to get me back down. Fun story.

Thanks so much, Alicia.
💯 that’s what I think about flying too – the pilot is in charge of getting us there safely. All I have to do is enjoy the movies or try and get some nap time. I think it’s more scary being in a car these days. The crazy drivers on our roads, inventing their own rules.

Some things are best not thought about when flying, and that’s one of them. How high the plane is is another one. Good descriptions of her first time flying.

Exactly. I switch off and just enjoy the experience. A good movie, food, napping, a good read, thinking of the holiday ahead…
And thank you!
