This patchwork is about memories, readjusting, night and day, the moon being the right way up again, heat, bush fires, and normality.

We’re back. The holiday is over. We arrived back in Brisbane after a nightmare flight from Dubai late Friday night. I would have done more posts during our trip but the wifi was intermittent, as scarce as hen’s teeth at times.

Anyway.

Four days since our full, cramped, noisy Boeing 777 touched down at Brisbane, we’re starting to get back into a normal groove. We’ve not cooked for five weeks, we’ve met some wonderful restaurant owners and staff, hotel managers and staff, their food has filled our bellies, their warmth and 5 star service has filled our souls. The rooms have been paradise.

If I drop some names of our favourites, and you happen to live nearby, I highly recommend a visit…

In London…

The Tufnell Park Bakery

The Spice, Tufnell Park

Aces and 8s, Tuffnell Park

Zizzi’s Italian restaurant

Delicious food, delightful staff, adding another level level of wonderful to our awesome holiday! But just quietly, I’m missing the dessert cabinet in the buffet on Deck 17 on board the NCL Viva!! #withdrawal symptoms!

As I write this I’m watching Escape to the Country, they are in the village of Flash, in Staffordshire, England. The scenery and history is making me drool! Not to mention the scones with clotted cream!

Back in SE Queensland, it’s hot. Fire season has started, there is a smoke haze in the air from a blaze not far away in the Western Downs. And so we brace for the hazards from hot dry weather.

I’m still mucked up with sleep patterns. Going from pole to pole leaves the head a bit confused between bed time and playtime…

Well that’s a round up for today. I’ll be back with more updates 😊
