This patchwork is about big events in small towns, eateries, Halloween, being smoke-free and some wet relief.

Host with the Most

Warwick is a small town. Some call it a city, but we look at it as a nice-sized rural town.   This sounds like I’ve taken on the role of tourism officer – I haven’t – but Warwick is progressive!

The population is around 12-15,000, and it is half the size of our last abode – Timaru, NZ.

For a small town, Warwick is a hub of activity. There is often something going on. In July we did our world-famous-in-Qld Jumpers and Jazz Winter festival.  Last weekend was the  Rodeo; another huge event which I mentioned earlier, and this weekend it’s all about The Monaro Club of Qld in Queens Park!  My brother had a Monaro, an orange one, back in the 70s.  He later changed to a Charger. Both were very cool cars.

Food Glorious Food

With a full calendar of events being hosted in Warwick, visitors and locals need somewhere to eat…we’ve got a growing range of eateries.  Whether you want fine dining, pub food, cafes, street food, Chinese, Tai, Japanese, Mexican, Indian, Subway, Pizza, or good ol Makkas or Burger King…we’ve got it.

We dined at Cafe #63, recently. Yum! It’s new, roomy and inviting. It took a while to browse the menu, there is so much to choose from. We liked the catchy names given to the dishes, the food was delicious and easy on the pocket, and the staff were lovely and helpful.  We’re going again tonight.

So that’s a wee round-up on Warwick.  The jewel in SE Queensland.

Spooky Treats

We are blessed to have a member of the family who is very talented and creative with baking. For Halloween, she made a batch of cupcakes. They look awesome, especially the black cat, the ghost, and the chewy body parts, and they are delicious!

Bush Fires

We’ve had two smoke-haze-free days in Warwick! The fire in Dalveen got close but the wind changed and diverted it away from us. The fires aren’t dominating the news at present, so a big shout out to the firefighters who work so hard to keep us safe.

The Sweet Smell of Petrichor

It rained yesterday! Enough to water the garden, make a few puddles and some smiles. That was an appetiser, now we want more, please…

That’s all for now, the next big event will be ‘the race that stops the nation’!

Thanks for reading and take care
