The threads that follow have presents, ribbons, bows, hugs, cake, and all the things that a birthday is about! Actually, in essence, this should be patchwork #65!!
So, today is a milestone. Well, it is where I come from. In NZ when we turn 65, we retire. I love the sound of that word. R E T I R E. That’s okay though, as the Government running this chunk of dirt across the ditch from Aotearoa like us all to work a further two years, then we can ring the bell and hang up our hats, gloves, and other work tools when we reach 67. And to be fair, I’ve got plenty of tread left to push it out 2 more years. But how many times have I been told when we retire we are busier than we were before? Plenty.
I have a growing list of hobbies, and I will easily fill my days with them, at a pace I like. It will feel weird knowing I can stop work anytime I like, but I know I will probably continue a few hours/days a week; I love my job and depending on what the economy is doing by then – it might be necessary. We all know our dollar is covering less and less, and we are becoming smarter shoppers.
Be More Tortoise
This isn’t a reflection of my current pace…but I think we could all learn a lesson/take a leaf from their greenery… I loved the sign I saw at London Zoo, back in September: Be More Tortoise – Plod Power – Get Those Greens – Go for Slow.
Projects
Anyway. Today is the start of a new lap around the Sun, new adventures, new projects, and more writing/editing/book releases. More crochet, more sewing, more colourful creations, More quirky fun for the feathered community, more reading – our bookshelf is loaded and waiting for me to have the time to read them. I’m currently in the early chapters of The Lucky Galah by Tracy Sorensen. Set in 1969, it’s cleverly narrated by a Galah. The story is curiously unfolding, I’m wondering just what this Galah called Lucky, is going to get up to. The reviews are very good.
Today the family are visiting, and I get cake! and presents… We are blessed to have a kitchen goddess who is the supreme cupcake and carrot cake queen. So every birthday we know is a day of deliciousness! Speaking of deliciousness, I haven’t posted a recipe on my page for ages…I’ll do something about that…
Meanwhile, the temperature today is set to reach 38…UGH!! so I’m staying near a fan/aircon/ in the shade!
***Starting today*** What is the flavour for you today? What’s your beverage? I want to hear what tea/coffee is spinning your tyres…
I’m indulging in a cup of Lady Whistledown’s Black Rose by Gillards of Bath.
I hope your day/evening is going well, Have a fab day, not long now…6 more sleeps!
Laters…thanks for reading

Happy 65th birthday, Fleur.
I love my mixed berry powdered teas. They are fresh and fruity and wonderful after a long session in the wood shed.

Thank you, Mason 🙂 I’m a big fan of fruity teas. I’ve not heard of powdered tea.
