I’m popping in to say hi, as it has been a while. Life gets busy.

It’s time for a rebranding… Patchwork, going forward, will move on to ‘Random Rants’…

So today’s inciteful rave involves choices, to-do lists, and a Kiwi classic. Have you ever changed your mind?

I’m close to the end of an awesome 2-week break across the pond in Aotearoa  (NZ).

I’m a born and raised Kiwi and I’ve only been absent from NZ residency nine years, so I’m amazed I didn’t see this coming.

We had a list of ‘must do’s’ which are mandatory when a  Kiwi is on home soil. One of them was to go to a Dairy and get a Hokey Pokey ice cream.  We don’t have corner dairies in Australia – they are called convenience stores. Dairies are part of our NZ way of life.

Anyway. If you ask for a single cone, they get a single cone. The cookies and cream look good too, can I have a bit of that?

No.

Can I have a double cone?

No.

So the cone is full of 1 scoop. That’s what I asked for, and that’s what I get. There’s no room for changing your mind. I am going to get another ice cream before I head back across the pond and it’ll be a double cone.

So, lesson learned. Be clear about what you want when you get an ice cream. Don’t change your mind. When I get an ice cream in Queensland, I get two servings of ice cream on one cone. Incidentally, my single cone was delicious, but a double cone would have been double the fun!

In the great ice cream tub of life, may your scoop roll smoothly, the flavours tickle your taste buds and the staff serve you with a smile.
