Unhinged
Syd grinned as he admired his handiwork, having recently moved into a posh neighbourhood. He felt he had finally found his forever home in stylish wrought iron. His motto – happy wife, happy life, meant he needed Sally’s approval to complete his dream home.
Suddenly, there was movement; a car revved into life. “Open the gate, Rosie!”
Nooooo!!” Syd wailed.
Too late.
Rosie yanked back the iron gate, and the hinge wiped the web out. Syd was aghast. He had tirelessly built the best web on the block. Now it was demolished.
“Sally will be inconsolable! Her new kitchen was state-of-the-art!”
That moment when the build was complete, but perhaps the location was a bit dodgy. Syd had settled for the hinge on an iron gate, favouring the rustic tones. But sadly, every hinge is designed to be moved. Rosie opened the gate and Syd’s dream home was but a memory.
Thanks for reading

Dear Fleur,
How devastating for poor Syd. I’m sorry to admit I laughed at his trial. 😉 Nice to see you back.
Shalom,
Rochelle

Thank you, and so sorry for the late reply, we’ve had a hectic few weeks. I’m glad it gave you a chuckle, that was the plan! I think Syd and Colin (the cockroach, another of nt fav characters) should team up for counselling, they’ve both got reason to whinge! And Felix thr mouse could join in too lol

Poor Sally, so many spiders suffer this devastating loss. They really need to pick safer locations! Good story.

I know, it’s sll about location! Haha…there are some people who like spiders about but generally the best web is a munted one. Thanks, Mason 🙂

I don’t mind the odd daddy long legs or a spider in the garden. It’s when they put a web at face level right across a path to horrible!

Daddy long legs are okay, it our Huntsman that creep me out. They get so big!

The huntsman is a very big and dangerous spider isn’t he. Australia has some real venomous species, its just as well they don’t hunt humans!

The huntsman doesn’t bite, not venomous at all, just creepy! But yes we’ve got some nasty grumpy snakes.

Oh, the huntsman there is different to those in other countries then. For example in Brazil, there huntsman will kill a human if the get bitten and dont get antivenom quickly.

No thankfully ours is nothing like that. We’ve got enough of that without the huntsman joining the queue.

Poor Syd. All that work for naught! It’s all about location, location, location, dude!!
Maybe that’s why webs are usually built by female spiders… 😉
That was such a fun read, Fleur.

I’m sure he will find the dedication to do it all again. He sounds the type.

Thank you Angela, this scene is a take from several years ago when a spider web was munted when we opened the gate. I imagined how grumpy the spider would be, a few of his legs folded in disgust lol
