A Problem Shared
Bob sat at the end of the bar, away from the noisy crowds. Ted the barman, finished wiping a glass and walked over to him.
βTell me all your troubles, Bob.β
βWhat? Why?β
βBecause if you tell me yours, maybe I wonβt feel so bad about mine.β
βWhat? All of them?β
βHow many have you got?β
βA fewβ¦β Bob pouted, βwhere do I start?β
βAt the beginningβ¦wait, hang on. How long will it take? I go for lunch soon.β
βMy daughter is marrying a moron, thatβs the main one.β
βMatters of the heart are tricky.β
βHeβs your nephew, though!β
βAhh..tricky indeed!β
Thanks for reading
Dear Fleur,
I had to look up drongo. Although the context in your story made it pretty clear. π I suspect this conversation is going to be longer than Ted bargained for. Two good ones for the price of one. π

Yes, Drongo is a typical Aussie slang expression, sorry. I will try and keep the expressions more ‘universal’ in future π

It wasnβt a complaint. π Itβs fun to learn expressions from other countries.

Poor Ted may need to find another barman to confide his own troubles too! π

I could easily see these two in an Irish pub for some reason. π

One man’s drongo is another man’s nephew – awkward!

Very funny. ‘Drongo’ is just the perfect word here. And I love the last line too.
