Friday Fictioneers – Write a 100-word story based on the Photo Prompt image above by © Jan Wayne Fields
Tick Tock
“Hmm, you need a new battery…”
“So do you…”
“Who said that?”
“Me.”
“Who’s…?” Daphne looked around, had she finally lost her last marble?
“It’s meee.”
An instinct diverted her eyes to the clock, “You’re a clock. Clocks don’t talk. I’m losing it.”
“Yes I can, and no you’re not. You work too hard, and you rush to the market with your flowers. Honey, listen to me. Relax.”
Daphne sighed.
“Chin up, sweetie. We can do this. I’m here for you every second, minute, and hour of the day.”
Daphne looked up, smiling smugly. Who else had a clock for a best friend?
Thanks for reading
Great story. Love the new battery idea, and I think our daughter will be needing one of those after a weekend of dance classes and a competition during the week.
Unfortunately, the clock doesn’t seem to be my best friend. Always seems to run away from me!

My clock isn’t my friend, either. My working life runs by a roster so I’m constantly chasing the time. I want a clock like this too! Thanks so much, Rowena 🙂

I’d not even thought of that, we aren’t savvy enough to have an Alexa. I think she would leave home after a few of my husband’s dad jokes lol If she is anything like a GPS she wouldn’t last long either…

Hahaha I love this!
I’m sure a clock would be a great friend! I could do with a reminder of the time all the time haha
