Patchwork #12

Well there are many threads to this piece of life’s patchwork…

Goodbye Warnie

The news of Shane Warne’s sudden passing rocked Australia and the world. I don’t follow the cricket but I’ve certainly heard of Shane Warne. He is a legend here, as he is internationally. The King of Spin. A good guy and a hell of a nice guy.

It was a big shock. When we heard the news, we thought it was some stupid attention-seeking spam on social media. But no. It was true. He was gone. Unbelievable. It sent shock waves with a rippling effect around the world. We watched the Memorial Service at the MCG last night on TV. The two-hour tribute was beautifully done, a perfect send-off for Warnie. He would have been so proud. He was taken too young, only 52, and will be hugely missed but his memory will always stay strong. R.I.P.

More from the Coast

Thinking back to our week away on the Sunshine Coast, we went to the famous Eumundi Market. It’s huge, with so many stalls, so much variety. It took a good 2-3 hrs to look at everything on offer. I found some specialty tea and some gifts for the family. It’s a must-do when we go to Mooloolaba.

It was great to wander unrushed and take it all in.

The marketers were happy to chat about their products, the best way to sell a good product, I think, is to give time to a curious customer. We bought a few things and took their cards to buy online.

We were lucky with the weather, considering the rain/floods the previous week, we had a week of sunny or cloudy days and gentle rain overnight.

Medieval Magic

Last weekend was the CelticFest in Warwick. Warwick, Queensland turned into the Celtic Capital of Queensland. As I am a keen enthusiast of anything medieval, I was in seventh heaven as we wandered around our local showgrounds that had been transformed into a Medieval community.

We chatted with the locals in their character costumes, each with a story to tell about their time in history, their trade, and how life was. All told with pride.

Don’t mess with the King!

Anything to do with Ireland makes me go weak at the knees. I felt such a strong attachment when we visited back in June 2019.

The sounds and skill of these fiddlers was amazing!
A girl needs a good ice cream with all the medieval magic…

All in all, it was absolutely amazing. It was a fascinating view into life back in the 1500s, when battles were fought, love grew and shirts were made from coiled-up steel and took 3 months to finish!

And… check out my green beauties!!

How they have grown!!

The mother leaf has long withered away but the 12 new leaves are going strong. Meanwhile, the plant behind has popped out 2 white flowers and the older plant at the rear is busting out all over with healthy green life!

Until next time…

Thanks for reading
